Strong moral character is developed in childhood and continues throughout life. During the fertile learning years of the young person, the seeds of integrity, honesty, courage, responsibility, kindness, respect, and resilience are planted, nurtured and grow. Teachers play a huge part in this process by being good role models, providing lessons, discussions, and opportunities to share, observe, and take part in developing good character.
This class will explore what character development is and why it is so important to teach in the school setting. Ideas of strategies, approaches, and techniques will be provided on how to promote character development, in general, and in the classroom.
It will provide participants with guidance on how to promote good moral character through fables and how to use fables as part of classroom activities.
