MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
Candice Benjamin has 40 years of experience working in the field of education as a special education teacher, an educational consultant an exceptional student school specialist and a behavior specialist in three different states. She earned her graduate degree from Western Illinois University. She is certified to teach learning disabled, mentally disabled and emotionally disturbed children of all ages. She retired from the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency in Iowa, where she conducted full and individual evaluations and determined eligibility for special education services, which included the administration and interpretation of individual standardized assessments, curriculum based measurement, and collection and analysis of behavioral data. Candice has been developing and teaching on-line graduate courses for credit through Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa since 2005.
Jane Heinz is a specialist in the area of reading and much more. She earned her graduate degree from St. Ambrose University and has decades of experience in education as a general education teacher, as well as a multi-categorical exceptional education teacher, working in K-7 classrooms, and later as a district Title 1 and Exceptional Education Specialist. As a district Title 1 Specialist, she became an Olweus Anti-bullying trainer/coach, and most recently, while supporting diverse exceptional education classrooms, she became a trainer/coach for district staff of Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS). She retired from Davenport Community Schools and has worked part time for the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency where she facilitated small groups of staff in digging deeper into LETRS and modeling strategies learned. Jane enjoys lifelong learning and appreciates the opportunities to facilitate the learning of both children and adults.
Leann Noack has 15 years of experience in the field of special education. She is a graduate from Western Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Special Education, and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Leann has spent her entire career working in the Special Education field, specializing in the area of behavior and emotional difficulties. Throughout the years she has served as a Classroom Teacher, Behavior Specialist, Alternative School Principal, and Program Lead. With her wide array of experiences, you can see that Leann is a passionate educator always searching for ways to make a difference in the life of a child.
Krista Vrombaut has 10 years of experience in the field of special education; working with student K-12. A majority of your time was spent as a behavior disorder teacher in an alternative school setting. Currently, Krista is employed by the Davenport Community School District as a special education specialist. As a specialist she trains teacher on the current curriculum, Boys Town behavior management, and LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). Krista earned her Master’s Degree from Western Illinois University and continues to take classes to deepen her knowledge as an educator.
Erin Ogden Is a graduate of the University of Iowa with degrees in psychology and linguistics. She earned her Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Enjoying both travel and diversity, she has spent time teaching students in both India and Spain.
