Grit! We hear that word and we think of men and women of steel, but research tells us that grit can be found in our students…from the littlest to the biggest. can have just has much “grit” as a high school, all state, football player. It isn’t about muscle; it is about mindset. Many of our students face almost insurmountable obstacles such as backgrounds in abuse, poverty and neglect; yet some of them not only survive but thrive. Why is that? Why do some children fold up and disappear and others claw their way to the top, find achievement, success and happiness? What makes a person “gritty” and how can we, as educators, nurture and support that “grittiness?”
In True Grit, we answer these questions and provide you with the tools needed to develop and maintain grit in your classroom. This course will turn theory into understandable, doable and usable practice and allow you to promote a life sustaining talent in your students-grit! Along the way, you will find ways to stimulate and encourage grit in yourself and your family. We all want to be successful, but the key to success is sometimes found in failure. How do we turn failures into achievements? Grit!
